Members Initiative Fund Grant Awarded to The Humble Garden CIC
Having recently opened its fourth round of funding, Ferryhill Town Council is pleased to announce that the latest group to benefit through its Members Initiative Fund is the newly formed community interest company, The Humble Garden CIC.
The not-for-profit organisation, based at East End Allotments is dedicated to cultivating a vibrant community garden, where residents of all ages can come together to grow food, share knowledge, and participate in a wide range of educational and social activities.
Founder, Lucille Bowling, who recently attended a cheque presentation at Ferryhill Town Hall, where Councillor Angus Ferguson presented her with a cheque for £450, confirmed that monies would be used to develop family and resident gardening sessions.
Councillor Angus Ferguson said “Ferryhill Town Council is always keen to support local community groups, and I am only too pleased, on this occasion, to be able to contribute my Members Initiative Fund Allocation, to help the newly formed Humble Garden CIC to establish a community hub, where regular workshops on topics such as organic gardening, composting, and sustainable living, can be organised, providing hands-on environmental education. Gardening is a great activity, which has the power to improve individuals physical and mental health, and I would like to thank Lucille for delivering this service to the people of Ferryhill.’
