80th Anniversary of D-Day Party in the Park

D-DAY 80 PARTY IN THE PARK, 12.00pm – 6.00pm SATURDAY, 8^TH JUNE 2024, DEAN BANK RECREATION PARK

Ferryhill Town Council is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a Party in the Park Family Event at Dean Bank Recreation Park on Saturday, 8^th June 2024, to mark the 80^th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings. The event which is being organised in association with AH Events Ltd. will be FREE to attend and will include live performances from a variety of stage acts including Britain’s Got Talent Semi-Finalists, Soldiers of Swing and North-East Sister Act, Khalysis, songwriters with over 150 original tracks, who have collaborated with artists like Ben Haenow, Mutya Buena, Courtney Hadwin, and producers like Billen Ted, Dario G, and DJ Ironik. Also performing will be Barrie McDermid of The Buskers, who will cover a range of songs from Bon Jovi to Girls Aloud. The event will be compered by Kenny D from Frisk Radio, (formerly of Metro Radio) who will also be the DJ for the event.The event will include a range of attractions for the whole family to enjoy including Crazy Golf, and a variety of inflatables such as a Large Assault Course, Wipeout and Large Slide. The event will also comprise Facepainters, Craft Area, Garden Games, Tots Area and a range of Stalls.

Refreshments will be available throughout the event with catering vehicles a fully licensed bar serving a variety of alcohol including Fosters’ Lager at £4 per pint, Fruit Ciders at £4.50 and a range of spirits at £4.50 for a single spirit with Mixer, and £2 extra charge for a double. Challenge 25 will apply.

Parking at the event will be restricted to Blue Badge Holders only.

Security arrangements for this event will be heightened and Marshalls reserve the right to search all bags. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times, only alcohol purchased at the venue can be consumed on site.

In addition to the Party in the Park event, Ferryhill Town Council will also be joining organisations up and down the Country in a National Beacon Lighting Ceremony to mark the D-Day 80 Anniversary. At 8.45pm on Thursday, 6^th June residents are invited to attend the Town Hall Garden for the Ceremony which will include a Blessing and Prayers by Interim Change Minister, Lindsay Southern of St Luke’s Church, the reading of the International Tribute by the Mayor of Ferryhill, the raising of the D-Day 80 International Flag of Peace by Ex N.C.O. Andy Denholm, 15th/19th The Kings Royal Hussars to the sound of the Bagpipes played by Piper, Adam Jenkins.

Mayor of Ferryhill, Councillor Carole Atkinson said ‘I am over the moon to be able to invite residents to what promises to be a fantastic FREE family Party in the Park event on 8^th June. The event which includes live stage performances, catering vehicles and a wide range of children’s entertainment, stalls, and a licensed bar is lining up to be a great day out.
