Mayor’s Final Weigh In for Weight Loss Challenge
Back in June 2025, Mayor of Ferryhill, Councillor Angus Ferguson set himself a challenge to do a sponsored weight loss challenge as a way of raising some funds for his chosen charities. The charities set to benefit from funds raised are Little Treasures Autism Charity and Stray Aid.
The Mayor’s weight at the start of the challenge was 18 stone, 7lbs & 2 ounces with his final target set at 16 stones.
For all Angus hasn’t quite made his target of 16 stones, he has done extremely well and his final weight is 16stone, 12 ounces.
Angus said “I am delighted with my whole campaign, although a little disappointed I never quite reached my initial target of 16 stones. It was really hard getting there but I am feeling much fitter, my mobility has improved radically. I am happy I have managed to keep the weight off and I will continue to cut out fat, drink more water and exercise more as I move into the new year. I am still extremely motivated knowing I have raised money for my chosen charities as well as improving my own physical and mental wellbeing. I now plan to enjoy the Christmas foodfest and if I don’t see you all before Christmas, I hope it’s lovely, happy and joyous”
A special thank you to everyone who has already donated, the support is much appreciated. There is still sponsor money to be collected, this will be done in January when the total raised will be announced.
