Ferryhill Town Council Awards Members Initiative Fund (MIF) Grants to Local Community Groups
Ferryhill Town Council is pleased to announce that funding offered through this year’s Members Initiative Fund (MIF) has been able to support five local community groups.
Endeavour Woodcrafts CIC received a grant of £500, enabling the organisation, which provides a day service for adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues, to purchase new tools for service users and also for use at Community Craft Classes.
The Humble Garden CIC received £1,500 towards its Community Garden Improvement project, which will cover fencing costs, improve health & safety issues across the garden, provide materials to improve pathways and seating/patio area, and overall, make the community garden a safer place for users to visit and enjoy.
The Miner’s Utd Football Club received a grant of £1,000 for a new electric spray line marker. The machine will enable the club to mark out multiple pitches in the same area using assorted colours, so that more matches can take place and more teams can be accommodated.
Friends of Astrid Academy of Movement also received a grant of £1,000. Monies will be used to contribute to training, coaching, travel, and competition-related costs for four young female athletes from Ferryhill, who have been selected to represent Team GB at an international competition in Portugal in July 2027.
Also receiving funding were the Ferryhill Wheelers Cycling Club, who received a grant of £500 to assist with the cost of the Club’s Centenary Presentation Evening & Charity Fundraiser. Grant monies will contribute to catering costs, room hire and guest speaker costs. The event will also raise funds for the Great North Air Ambulance (GNAA).
Mayor, Councillor Curtis Bihari said ‘I am delighted that the Town Council has been able to support five worthwhile projects through this year’s Members Initiative Fund. Projects receiving funding this year are all very different in nature, but each offers a unique benefit to the Town.’
The Members Initiative Fund has now closed for this year but is expected to re-open for applications in May 2027. Watch out for more details on the Council’s website and Facebook page in the New Year.
