Ferryhill Town Council Secures Grant Funding for Capital Projects
Ferryhill Town Council is celebrating having secured a total of £52,851 external grant funding to enable a new toilet facility to be provided at Duncombe Cemetery, and a Miner’s Lamp Sculpture to be installed at Ferryhill Station.
£17,851 was secured through the Area Budget Fund via the 4Together Partnership to enable an inclusive, stone built toilet facility to be provided at Duncombe Cemetery, to cater for visitors to the site. The new facility will replace the old porta-loos currently in-situ at the Cemetery.
£20,000 was secured via the National Lottery Heritage Fund together with £15,000 through the Neighbourhood Budgets of County Councillors Peter Atkinson and Curtis Bihari via the 4Together Partnership, which will enable a 4 meter high Miner’s Lamp Sculpture to be installed at Ferryhill Station, to represent the area’s mining heritage.
Works to design the Miner’s Lamp Sculpture, which will involve a range of community workshops with a professional Sculptor and will involve pupils from the local primary school are expected to commence in March, with works to construct the new toilet facility at Duncombe Cemetery also expected to commence within the next couple of months.
