ARMISTICE DAY CEREMONY 10.40am, WEDNESDAY, 11^th NOVEMBER 2026

A Ceremony to mark Remembrance Day (Armistice Day) will take place at the Town Hall Cenotaph on Wednesday, 11th November 2026 with members of Ferryhill Town Council, Council staff, local Schools and St. Luke’s Church.  Members of the public are also very welcome to attend. The programme for the event is as follows:

10.40am –   School Children and Councillors arrive

10.45am –   Introduction by Mayor, Councillor Curtis Bihari

10.50am –   Les Lewis, St. Luke’s Church addresses the congregation

11.00am –   Flag lowered by ex-serviceman, Paul Gray of the 5^th Regiment of the Royal Artillery, to the sound of The Last Post, played by Andrew Potts, Ferryhill Town Band, followed by two minutes silence

11.02am –   Flag raised by ex-serviceman, Paul Gray of the 5^th Regiment of the Royal Artillery,to the sound of Reveille played by Andrew Potts, Ferryhill Town Band

11.03am –   Congregation place crosses in planter

11.15am –   Les Lewis, St, Luke’s Church addresses the congregation

11.20am –   Event ends

Refreshments will be served upstairs in the Town Hall after the event.

THE POPPY APPEAL 2026

This year’s Poppy Appeal officially launches on Thursday, 22nd October 2026.

Ordered wreaths can be collected from Ferryhill Co-op between 10.00am – 4.00pm from

Monday, 2^nd November to Friday, 6^th November 2026 or by prior arrangement.  Payment can be made by cash, debit card or credit card. Royal British Legion Merchandise will also be on sale at Ferryhill Co-op during these dates.
