Dean Bank Park Play Area to Close for 6 – 8 Weeks to Enable New Play Equipment to be Installed
Ferryhill Town Council has announced that it’s Play Area at Dean Bank Park will close from Monday, 9th February 2026 for approximately 6 – 8 weeks, to enable new play equipment to be installed on site.
Thanks to external funding secured through Tarmac’s Landfill Communities Fund via the Derbyshire Environmental Trust (DET), the Children’s Play Area at Dean Bank Park together with the piece of land where the Bowls Pavilion once stood, is all set to receive a major transformation.
The project, which in total is expected to cost in the region of £115,000 will see existing junior play equipment being replaced with new, modern and much more inclusive and vibrant play equipment, with the addition of teenage equipment being installed on the area of land where the former Bowls Pavilion was demolished.
Following a series of community consultation and a formal procurement process, Play Company Kompan, who submitted the most popular play designs with residents, were awarded the Contract to deliver the project.
Mayor, Councillor Angus Ferguson said ‘Ferryhill Town Council are thrilled that it has been able to secure the monies required to regenerate the Play Facilities at Dean Bank Park. The Council is extremely grateful to Tarmac Ltd. for contributing £90,000 grant funding, which will enable this project to be brought to fruition and breathe new life into this former Miner’s Welfare Park.’
