Mayor’s Weight Loss Journey Monthly Update
Mayor of Ferryhill, Councillor Angus Ferguson set himself a challenge on 18th June 2025 to do a sponsored weight loss challenge as a way of raising some funds for his chosen charities. The charities set to benefit from funds raised are Little Treasures Autism Charity and Stray Aid.
The Mayor’s weight at the start of the challenge was 18 stone, 7lbs & 2 ounces. Last month he weighed 17stone 11lbs and today when Angus visited the Town Hall for a weigh in, he was 17stone 10lbs, a loss of 1 pound.
Angus said “I am frustrated that I have pretty much stayed the same but I know I can do this challenge. I am feeling much fitter, my mobility has improved radically. I am happy I have managed to keep the weight off and I will continue to cut out fat, drink more water and exercise. As I continue with the challenge my blood pressure will reduce and I’m sure it will become easier the more weight I lose”. I am still extremely motivated knowing I am raising money for my chosen charities and improving my own physical and mental wellbeing.
Councillor Ferguson is asking people for sponsorship to go towards his charity fundraising and support him in his bid to shed the pounds, with his target set at 16 stone, he would like to thank everyone who has donated so far, the support is much appreciated.
If you would like to support the Mayor by way of sponsorship, sponsorship forms are available to complete at Ferryhill Town Hall, Little Treasures and Stray Aid or alternatively you can call 01740 652157 or email enquiries@ferryhill.gov.uk or email Angus direct angus.ferguson@icloud.com to add your name to the form. You can either donate £1 for every pound lost or any amount would be greatly appreciated.
The results of Angus’ weight loss challenge will be revealed before the Christmas break and a further update will be given next month.
