Ferryhill Town Council presents Members Initiative Fund (MIF) Cheque to Ferryhill LADDER Centre
Ferryhill Town Council is pleased to announce that the latest group to benefit from the Council’s Members Initiative Fund is the Ferryhill LADDER Centre, who recently attended a cheque presentation at Ferryhill Town Hall, where Councillor Stephen Bowron presented a representative of the Centre, Nigel Jones with a cheque for £200 from his MIF allocation.
The Ferryhill Ladder Centre provides an invaluable service for the community of Ferryhill, providing free support and guidance on a wide range of issues including employment opportunities, access to training and benefits advice. The Centre also offers free access to IT services and hosts youth groups and several Social Activity Groups aimed at tackling social isolation, access to sporting activities and improving mental health. The Centre is also a referral point for the Town’s Foodbank and an access point for the NE First Credit Union.
Monies provided through the Town Council’s MIF Fund will be specifically used to contribute towards covering the costs of taking Members of the Centre’s Mens and Ladies groups on day trips.
Councillor Bowron said ‘I am delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile project. Ferryhill LADDER Centre continue to support the community of Ferryhill in so many ways, and I am only too pleased to be able to contribute to this specific project which will help enable the Centre to take its members away on enjoyable day trips.’
