Town Centre Toilets
Due to the continued issues of the Town Centre toilets being misused, following a Council meeting this week Councillors have made the decision to close the Town Centre toilets temporarily on a Saturday whilst they explore a number of options to mitigate these issues.
The Town Council staff work Monday to Friday, however the Town Centre toilets have always been opened on a Saturday with a staff member providing cover. Due to increased concerns over the misuse of the toilets this leaves the staff member working on a Saturday vulnerable and this was a crucial factor in the decision that has been made.
The Town Centre toilets will remain open from 8am until 4:30pm Monday to Friday and staff will be on hand to deal with any issues.
The Town Council would like to reassure residents that we are working with the local Police and Neighbourhood Wardens to mitigate the issues we are experiencing and as a result you may see a more visible presence in this area as the Town Council aim to tackle the issues.
The Town Council’s aim is to ensure their facilities are safe for everyone who uses them, however, staff are also paramount and their safety is key. To ensure facilities are safe the Town Council will continue working with key partners to ensure that this happens.
