New Mayor of Ferryhill for 2024-2025
At the Annual Council Meeting held on Wednesday 15th May, Councillors elected Councillor Carole Atkinson to serve as Mayor of Ferryhill for the municipal year 2024/25. Councillor Liam Fellows was elected as Deputy Mayor. After being elected Councillor Atkinson thanked the outgoing Mayor, Councillor Curtis Bihari, for his work over the past year.
Councillor Atkinson has been a Ferryhill Town Councillor since 2017 and served as Mayor in 2022-2023. She has been a resident of Ferryhill her entire adult life, raising her family in the town and living here ever since with husband and fellow Councillor, Peter Atkinson. Councillor Atkinson is involved in a wealth of local community organisations in the Town volunteering her time to help all parts of our community thrive.
The Mayor hasn’t yet decided on her chosen charities but as soon as she does this will be announced.
Councillor Atkinson said “It is an honour to have been elected to serve as Mayor for a second time, it was a privilege meeting many community organisations and residents during my last term as Mayor and I hope to do the same this time around., I am currently considering which charities to support during my term in office, there are just so many well deserving local charities out there, I will be announcing this very soon”.
