In 2022 Ferryhill Town Council launched its new Members Initiative Fund offering local community groups the opportunity to apply for funding to develop local projects. The initiative proved hugely successful, managing to support 18 community groups and twenty-three projects. Due to its success, the Town Council has agreed to open a second round of funding, with each Town Councillor being allocated a small pot of money to contribute towards projects and initiatives organised by local community groups/charities. Through the scheme Councillors will also be able to pool their resources to deliver larger projects that will be of significant benefit to the local community.
Any group who would like to apply for a grant through the Members Initiative Fund is advised to either speak to one of their local Councillors in the first instance to ensure that they have support for their project idea before submitting an application, or to contact Karen Younghusband, Events & Projects Officer at Ferryhill Town Council by email at kyounghusband@ferryhill.gov.uk with their project idea and for further advice.
The second round of the Members Initiative Fund is now officially open, and application forms are available from Ferryhill Town Hall. The deadline for applications for the 2023-2024 Financial year will be 26th February 2024. All applicants must have a fully constituted group and have a bank account with at least two unrelated signatories.
