Ferryhill Remembrance Arrangements – Remembrance Sunday 9th November 2025 & Armistice Day Tuesday 11th November 2025
REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY 9.30am, 9th NOVEMBER 2025
Ferryhill Town Council will be holding a Remembrance Sunday parade, church service and wreath laying ceremony on Sunday 9th November 2025. All residents of Ferryhill are invited to attend. The programme for the event is as follows:
09.30am – Parade gathers in Market Place Car Park*
09.45am – Parade leaves The Market Place enroute to St. Luke’s Church
10.00am – Church Service at St. Luke’s Church
10.50am – Parade leaves St. Luke’s Church and marches back to The Market Place Car
Park in preparation of the wreath laying ceremony at the Cenotaph
11.00am – Service, wreath laying ceremony and The Last Post, played by Andrew Potts, Ferryhill Town Band, in the Town Hall garden, with the flag being lowered by ex-serviceman Paul Gray, of 5th Regiment of the Royal Artillery
*In the event of adverse weather, the parade will gather inside St. Luke’s Church Hall
WREATH LAYING CEREMONY AT MEMORIAL COTTAGE – 12.30pm, 9th NOVEMBER 2025
A separate wreath laying ceremony will be taking place, led by Mayor, Councillor Angus Ferguson at 12.30pm on Remembrance Sunday, at Memorial Cottage. Any residents wanting to attend should congregate at Memorial Cottage at 12.20pm for the Ceremony at 12.30pm.
FERRYHILL WILD BOAR HERITAGE CENTRE – 10.00am until 2.00pm, 9th NOVEMBER 2025
Ferryhill Wild Boar Heritage Centre, which is located upstairs in Ferryhill Workingmen’s Club, will be opening from 10.00am until 2.00pm on Remembrance Sunday. Participants and residents are invited to come along and view the exhibits and memorabilia on display.
ARMISTICE DAY CEREMONY 10.40am, TUESDAY, 11th NOVEMBER 2025
A Ceremony to mark Remembrance Day (Armistice Day) will take place at the Town Hall Cenotaph on Tuesday, 11th November 2025 with members of Ferryhill Town Council, Council staff, local Schools and St. Luke’s Church. Members of the public are also very welcome to attend. The programme for the event is as follows:
10.40am – School Children and Councillors arrive
10.45am – Introduction by Mayor, Councillor Angus Ferguson
10.50am – Les Lewis, St. Luke’s Church addresses the congregation
11.00am – Flag lowered by ex-serviceman, Paul Gray of the 5th Regiment of the Royal Artillery, to the sound of The Last Post, played by Andrew Potts, Ferryhill Town Band, followed by two minutes silence
11.02am – Flag raised by ex-serviceman, Paul Gray of the 5th Regiment of the Royal Artillery to the sound of Reveille played by Andrew Potts, Ferryhill Town Band
11.03am – Congregation place crosses in planter
11.15am – Les Lewis, St, Luke’s Church addresses the congregation
11.20am – Event ends
Refreshments will be served upstairs in the Town Hall after the event.
THE POPPY APPEAL 2025
This year’s Poppy Appeal officially launched on Thursday, 23rd October 2025.

Royal British Legion merchandise will be on sale at Ferryhill Co-op from Monday 3rd November to Friday 7th November between 10.00am and 4.00pm. Donations of cash, debit card or credit card are accepted.
