Ferryhill Town Council to hold Community Workshops to Design Miner’s Lamp Sculpture
Ferryhill Town Council are pleased to announce that they will be hosting two Community Workshops with professional Sculptor, Andrew McKeon, to offer residents the opportunity of getting involved in designing a 4-meter-high Miner’s Lamp Sculpture, to commemorate the mining heritage of Ferryhill. Grant funding has been secured to enable the Sculpture to be manufactured and installed on Surtees Corner, at Ferryhill Station. Both Workshops will be held in the back room of the Surtees Arms Public House, which is situated opposite the Installation site, as follows:
2.00pm – 4.00pm – Wednesday, 5th March 2025
6.00pm – 8.00pm – Wednesday, 12th March 2025
Residents are very welcome to attend one or both Workshops. Capacity at the venue is limited therefore entry will be on a first come, first served basis. Separate workshops will also be taking place with children attending the local Primary School. Following the workshops, designs for the Sculpture will be put on public display, to enable residents to make any final comments before the Sculpture is manufactured.
