Tess Tickle and the Dragettes featuring Gucci Gabore held a charity event at Ferryhill Sport & Education Centre on Friday 10th February 2023 to raise funds for the Mayor of Ferryhill, Councillor Carole Atkinson’s Charities.
The evening was very successful and raised a fantastic amount for the Mayor’s chosen charities which are Endeavour Woodcrafts & Ferryhill LADDER Centre.
Mayor, Councillor Carole Atkinson said after the event “I am over the moon with the amount raised for my chosen charities. I am so grateful to Tess & the Dragettes and also Gucci Gabore for their support, as always the show was fabulous. I would like to thank the staff at Ferryhill Sport & Education Centre for providing the venue and ensuring everything was perfect on the night and special thanks to everyone who attended and supported me and to everyone who donated prizes, it was a brilliant night!”

Since launching its Members Initiative Fund (MIF) in April 2022, Ferryhill Town Council is pleased to announce that it has been able to support 19 local groups through the scheme. The latest group to benefit from the Fund is Endeavour Woodcrafts CIC, who recently attended a cheque presentation at Ferryhill Town Hall, where Councillors John and Bernie Lamb presented the group with a cheque for £450 from their MIF allocations.
Endeavour, who are a non-profit making organisation that offers a day service providing training and education for adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues in the art of woodwork design and crafts will use the monies donated, to refurbish the centre’s Craft and Social Area, giving it a much-needed facelift for the benefit of service users.
Councillors John and Bernie Lamb said ‘We are delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile organisation. Endeavour Woodcrafts CIC provides an invaluable service for vulnerable people in Ferryhill, and we are only too happy to support them.’

Tess Tickle & The Dragettes featuring Gucci Gabore, will be performing at Ferryhill Sport & Education Centre, Lambton Road, Ferryhill on Friday 10th February 2023, doors open at 7pm. This Charity night has been arranged to support the Mayor of Ferryhill, Councillor Carole Atkinson during her year in office and raise funds for her two chosen charities.
Tickets are £10 each and are available from Ferryhill Town Hall and Ferryhill Sport & Education Centre. Tickets are expected to sell fast so to avoid disappointment get your tickets early and come along and help make the evening a huge success.
There will be raffle draw on the night and funds raised will be donated to Endeavour Woodcrafts and Ferryhill LADDER Centre.
If any local businesses or residents would like to donate a prize for the raffle, any donations would be greatly appreciated and can be left at Ferryhill Town Hall.

Ferryhill Town Council is pleased to announce that the latest group to receive funding through its Members Initiative Fund (MIF) are Ferryhill Churches Together. Representatives from the organisation, Mr & Mrs McDonagh attended a presentation at Ferryhill Town Hall this week, where Councillor Stephen Bowron presented them with a cheque for £100 from his MIF Allocation. Funding will be used to contribute to supplies for the Ferryhill Foodbank.
Councillor Bowron said ‘I am delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile cause. The volunteers at Ferryhill Foodbank do such an amazing job in supporting those most in need in our local community.’

Ferryhill Athletic FC have become the latest group to benefit through Ferryhill Town Council’s Members Initiative Fund. Launched in April 2022, the Fund has now seen a total of £5,900 being donated to support local projects and initiatives.
In a cheque presentation held at Ferryhill Town Hall, Councillor Stephen Bowron presented a cheque for £100 to Fraser Reynolds from Ferryhill Athletic FC. Funds will be used to provide refreshments for spectators during match days.
Originally formed in 1921 Ferryhill Athletic FC played in both the Northern League and Wearside League for 60+ years before eventually folding in 2006. With a large football following, it may have taken 15 years to resurrect the Club, but with the whole Town supporting them, and with aspirations to return to Northern League Football the team are destined to grow from strength to strength.
Councillor Bowron said ‘I am thrilled to be able to support Ferryhill Athletic FC. It is great to see that the Team have been able to reform and are now back playing in Ferryhill at their old ground at Dean Bank Park.’

Ferryhill Town Council is pleased to announce that it will once again be organising a Santa Tour around Ferryhill this year. Santa, who will be taking time out of his busy schedule to visit Ferryhill will be chauffeur driven on a specially adapted vehicle, so that he can wave at children enroute. The event will commence at 4.00pm on Thursday, 22nd December and will include four stopping points along the way, where children will be able to see Santa. Details of Santa’s route is as follows:

Having launched its Members Initiative Fund (MIF) in April 2022, Ferryhill Town Council is pleased to announce that it has already been able to support sixteen local groups through the scheme. The latest group to receive funding is Little Treasures Autism Charity, who recently attended a presentation at Ferryhill Town Hall where Councillor Stephen Bowron presented a representative from the Charity, Clare Wilkinson with a cheque for £150 from his MIF Allocation. Funding will be used to enable an Animal Therapy Session for Autistic Children to be organised.
Councillor Bowron said ‘I am delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile Charity as Little Treasures. As someone who has two autistic children my-self it is great to be able to give something back and contribute funding to a group, who have benefitted not only my own family but the families of many autistic children across the North-East by offering a range of workshops and social activities each year.’
