Having launched its Members Initiative Fund in April 2022, Ferryhill Town Council is pleased to announce that it has already been able to support five local groups through the scheme. The latest group to receive funding is Ferryhill Stage Society, who recently attended a presentation at Ferryhill Town Hall where Councillors Joe Makepeace and Gordon Barker, who each donated £450 to the Society, presented representatives with a cheque for £900.
Established in 1938 the Ferryhill Stage Society have been entertaining audiences for over 80 years. Funding provided through the Members Initiative Fund will be used by the Society to cover costs associated with putting on a production of the popular musical ‘9 TO 5.’
Councillor Makepeace and Councillor Barker said ‘we are delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile group. Ferryhill Stage Society have been thrilling audiences for decades, and it is a pleasure to be able to contribute towards their latest production, which we can’t wait to see.’
Elsie McGowan, Ferryhill Stage Society said ‘On behalf of Ferryhill Stage Society I would like to say a huge thank you to Councillors Makepeace and Barker for their generous donation from the Members Initiative Fund. Staging a show is a very costly business; however, this donation will help us greatly in our production of 9 to 5 The Musical. It is very much appreciated’.
