Ferryhill Town Council would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended the Town’s Remembrance Day service held in the Town Hall garden on Thursday, 11th November and the Town’s Remembrance Sunday Parade and Wreath Laying Ceremony held on Sunday, 14th November. Remembrance provides a national opportunity to honor the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces in defending our democratic freedoms and protecting our way of life. ‘We will remember them.’
A special thank you goes to St. Luke’s Church for delivering both Services, to Ex Bugle Major Garry Suggett and Andrew Potts for performing the ‘Last Post’ and Reveille, to ex-serviceman Paul Gray, 5th Regiment of the Royal Artillery for raising and lowering the flag, and to Ferryhill History Society for opening the Heritage Centre at Duncombe Cemetery on Remembrance Sunday. Ferryhill Town Council would also like to acknowledge the hard work carried out by Ferryhill Remembers in creating the fitting poppy tributes displayed around the Town to mark the occasion. It is very humbling to see the community come together to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
